Statement by Iceland

Mr. Vice President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of the Kingdom of Denmark and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Renew the national action plan to combat gender-based violence in Denmark.
2. Develop and implement a comprehensive national action plan to combat gender-based violence in Greenland.
3. Ensure full and effective application of the Istanbul Convention in Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
4. Ensure universal access to comprehensive sexuality education in and out of school settings.
5. Protect and promote sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and ensure access to SRHR services and information, in particular in rural areas.
6. Respect intersex children’s right to self-determination and ban medically unnecessary surgeries.

We wish the Kingdom of Denmark all success for its review.
