The Icelandic Government’s proposed referendum on continued EU accession negotiations
On 28 May 2026, the Icelandic Parliament, Alþingi, approved a resolution stipulating that a referendum will be held on 29 August 2026 on whether to resume accession negotiations with the European Union.
